About Us
R&r Safety is an independent KwaZulu-Natal-based consultancy focussed on assisting companies with the design and implementation of solutions to establish safe systems of work, to comply with relevant occupational health and safety legislation in the workplace.
We provide site-specific safety files, performing inspections and audits to meet the site and client’s specific needs. Our speciality is safety in the construction sector, however, we have experience with factories, schools, offices, and workshops. We also assist with ad-hoc requests for task-specific risk assessments and fall protection plans.
Professional Memberships
The company is led by Rene Fitzgerald who has a BCom in Risk Management and is registered with both South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professions (SACPCMP) and the South African Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (Saiosh). Rene has more than 10 years of practical experience in the Occupational Health and Safety Industry.
R&r Safety has Public Indemnity Insurance, and is registered and in good standing with the Department of Labour (DoL) and the South African Revenue Service (SARS).

Safety Files
A Safety File is a record of information used to implement, control and manage the Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) program in an organisation as prescribed by the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993 (OHS Act) and its Regulations. The file contains health and safety documentation like training records, appointment records, risk assessments and policies & procedures.
R&r Safety has compiled thousands of different files for various diverse sites (corporate, state-owned, schools, factories, offices, and construction) with an excellent strike rate.
Every Health and Safety File that we compile is site-specific, and is compiled in accordance with the client’s and the site’s specific safety specifications.
Auditing & Inspections
Audits and site inspections are critical elements of an employer’s health and safety program, as they provide essential feedback that the SHE policies & procedures as prescribed by the OHC Act 85 of 1993 and its Regulations are effectively implemented, and are fit for purpose.
A Legal Compliance Audit provides a holistic overview of the organisation’s compliance status, and identifies risks, and any areas of non-compliance.
A Site Inspection is a physical inspection of the workplace / construction site conducted by R&r Safety officials for the purpose of evaluating the employer’s workplace health and safety program.
During a site visit, we observe the work environment, collect information, and meet with safety representatives or leadership. Through a critical examination of the workplace, we can identify possible risks and areas of non-compliance.
R&r Safety offers weekly, fortnightly, or monthly auditing and site inspection services. Once-off audits can also be arranged. During the auditing or inspection process we provide suggestions on how to effectively address any potential hazards, and outline the best corrective actions to be implemented.
Staff Placing
R&r Safety provides Health and Safety Officer / Representative placement services. We place a qualified Safety Officer on-site, at your workplace or construction site, to perform all the relevant duties ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation, and a safe working environment for your employees.
Supply of PPE & Safety Signage
In the workplace, all hazards must be clearly identified through appropriate safety signage, and applicable legal posters must be displayed where they can be seen by all employees to create awareness of the legislation.
Personal protective equipment (PPE) is clothing and gear used to reduce exposure to risks that can result in significant workplace injuries and illness. PPE may include items such as gloves, foot and eye protection, high-visibility clothing, full body suits, hard hats and masks.
R&r Safety are suppliers of personal protective equipment (PPE), safety signage and legal posters.
